The World Health Organization appointed Dr. Dubord to an expert advisory panel on cell tissue and organ transplantation in 2005. In 2018, he was appointed to a WHO task force on organ and tissue donation and transplantation. He was medical director and board member at Operation Eyesight Universal. In America, he was a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the Eye Bank Association and a member of the Eye Bank Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In 2012, he was honoured to have the Paul Dubord “Chair of Cornea” named after him at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India. In 2018, he was a co-signee to the Barcelona Principles, the global moral and ethical guideline for eye banking. In British Columbia, he was an active board member of the Branch of International Surgery with UBC.
With the World Health Organization, he was co-chair and co-author of the “Global Action Framework” to advance human tissue donation and transplantation for all lower- and middle-income countries. He was actively involved with international eye banking and corneal transplantation development in Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, China and
India since 1989.
